UPDATE: The team's InReach device is low on battery. Accordingly, the only tracking points sent will be from where the team spends each evening.

Hi, we're Alexis, Allan, Lydia and Mark - on a journey to traverse Te Waka O Maui, Aotearoa.

(location points are generally updated every two hours when we're on the move)

Our aim is to complete a full traverse of the South Island of New Zealand, from Farewell Spit to Foveaux Strait.

Our intended route will follow the dominant mountain ranges, and travel along the main divide, from Nelson Lakes National Park to the Hollyford River.

Along the way, as time and conditions allow, we will be attempting some of the more dominant peaks on the island. Particular priorities include remote peaks such as Mts Whitcombe, Elie De Beaumont, Fettes and Destiny and Climax peaks as well as some of New Zealand’s most famous peaks such as Aoraki/Mt Cook and Tititea/Mt Aspiring.

We intend to paddle the length of Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri, and to finish our journey by packrafting out of Long Sound to Puysegur Point, in the remote southwestern extremity of the island.

If you'd like to make a donation to our expedition, we have a givealittle page here. Cheers!
